Putting a Face to the Feet...

Kit
The United Kingdom

Hello.

My name is Kit, short for Christopher. I have been barefooting for about six years or so on and off. While I’ve always had a lifelong curiosity in it, one of my friends had a vested interest in it, I only started pursuing seriously three years ago when living in a town called Warwick in the West Midlands of the UK.

There it was more a matter of convenience to drive barefoot, especially as I was doing such a thing so often and the car was just outside the door. It was during this time that I joined the Society for Barefoot Living and began pursuing activities outside of driving the car. This included walking into town which I found to be a taxing idea at the time. For some reason I was extremely anxious of what other peoples’ reactions might have been.

Eventually I committed to a long and very public walk across the whole town. I took shoes just in case, however this backfired somewhat in that the walk itself was too much for my unused feet. It was a learning experience in many ways, the fact that resistance has to be built up and you cannot expect to conquer Everest without perhaps practising on Kilimanjaro first.

So, since moving back to Coventry, I have endeavoured to be barefoot as much as possible and to take it slow. The reason none of this has deterred me is that I just feel happier sans shoes! I find it encourages me to be adventurous, especially when walking. Anyone can walk down a path but I find myself drawn off the beaten track looking for alternative routes and the sensations that that might uncover.

And, it’s just fun!

I would encourage everyone to give it a go, but remember to start slow...

Anyway, thanks for taking the time read this!

Keeping ‘em bare!

Kit
