In most areas of the world, going barefoot isn't the high-risk situation that some make it out to be. We hope to convey through this Website and other resources that going barefoot is usually a better option than wearing shoes.

That's not to say that shoes are never necessary. Just as gloves are prudent for certain occasions, footwear is prudent at times. We are in favor of charitable shoe-giving if the intent is to give the underprivileged an option to wear shoes if they feel it prudent.

What we oppose is the implication that shoes are always a necessary part of life like food and shelter or that going barefoot is inherently a bad thing. Any program or organization that implies this is sending out misguided messages.
