Many barefooters have found that feet acclimate to colder temperatures just as the rest of our bodies do. Think about how your body reacts when you first get into a swimming pool. The water seems too cold, but after a few minutes it doesn't bother you. The water temperature hasn't changed; it's just that you get used to it and keep moving around. Going barefoot is very similar. The more active you stay, the warmer you will feel. Cold surfaces, such as frozen pavement, snow or ice, certainly can cause damage to the feet with prolonged exposure. The bottom line is that you must do what you feel is best for your feet.
